Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Bug Affecting Certain Heroes

Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings, particularly with heroes like Dr. Strange and Wolverine, can rest assured that developers are actively working on a fix. This 30 FPS bug impacts damage calculations, affecting the gameplay experience for many.

Released in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity within the hero shooter genre, boasting an impressive 80% player approval rating on Steam (over 132,000 reviews). While initial concerns surrounded hero balance, a recent issue involving lower frame rates has emerged.

Community reports highlight a glitch at 30 FPS disproportionately affecting heroes such as Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine, diminishing their attack damage. A community manager on the official Discord server confirmed the issue, noting movement problems at lower FPS that extend to attack damage. While a precise fix date isn't available, the upcoming Season 1 launch (January 11th) is expected to address the problem, with further updates planned if necessary.

The 30 FPS Damage Bug: A Deeper Dive

The root cause appears to be linked to Marvel Rivals' client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique to mitigate lag. This mechanism, however, seems to be the source of the damage discrepancy at lower frame rates.

While the official acknowledgement didn't provide an exhaustive list of affected heroes and abilities, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw were specifically mentioned. The effects are reportedly more noticeable against stationary targets than in live matches. Even if Season 1 doesn't fully resolve the issue, the developers have committed to addressing it in a subsequent patch.
