Dead by Daylight's The Nightmare Receives a Major Rework
Dead by Daylight's The Nightmare (Freddy Krueger) is getting a significant overhaul in an upcoming patch, addressing long-standing complaints about his weakness compared to other Killers. This rework focuses on enhancing his flexibility and aligning his abilities more closely with his iconic character traits.
The core change introduces the ability to seamlessly switch between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets, offering greater tactical options. Dream Snares are updated to move at 12 m/s, traversing walls and stairs (but not ledges), and their effects now vary depending on whether a Survivor is asleep or awake. Asleep Survivors are hindered, while awake Survivors accumulate additional sleep timer.
Dream Pallets, too, receive a boost. They can be triggered to explode, inflicting damage and impacting the sleep timer based on the Survivor's state (injured for sleeping Survivors, increased sleep timer for awake Survivors).
Enhanced Teleportation and Gameplay Mechanics:
The Nightmare's teleportation abilities are also enhanced. He can now teleport to any generator (completed, blocked, or endgame) in the Dream World, and will also be drawn to Survivors actively healing. Teleporting near a healing Survivor reveals them via Killer Instinct, adding a layer of strategic depth. The teleport cooldown is reduced from 45 to 30 seconds, but cancellation is no longer possible.
Healing Survivors in the Dream World are now consistently revealed by Killer Instinct (with a 3-second lingering effect after they stop healing), making them easier targets for The Nightmare's teleportation. Additionally, sleeping Survivors can now use any Alarm Clock to wake up, but each clock enters a 45-second cooldown after use.
Add-On Adjustments and Unchanged Perks:
Several of The Nightmare's Add-Ons will be adjusted to encourage more creative loadout strategies. However, his perks (Fire Up, Remember Me, and Blood Warden) remain unchanged, potentially to preserve the Killer's original design intent.
Key Rework Notes:
