In *Phasmophobia*, Tarot Cards are a high-risk, high-reward Cursed Possession. This guide explains how to use them effectively.
How to Use Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia
Screenshot by The EscapistTarot Cards offer powerful effects but carry significant risks. For safety, use them in a secure location, like near a hiding spot or the entrance, allowing for a quick escape if you draw a dangerous card like Death.
Each card's effect is immediate. However, The Fool card (similar to a Joker) produces no effect. You can draw up to 10 cards without sanity loss, and duplicates have the same effect.
Ten unique cards exist:
Tarot Card | Effect | Draw Chance |
---|
The Tower | Doubles ghost activity for 20 seconds | 20% |
The Wheel of Fortune | Gains 25% sanity (green burn); loses 25% sanity (red burn) | 20% |
The Hermit | Confines the ghost to its favorite room for 1 minute (doesn't affect hunts or events) | 10% |
The Sun | Fully restores sanity to 100% | 5% |
The Moon | Completely drains sanity to 0% | 5% |
The Fool | Mimics another card before becoming The Fool; no effect | 17% |
The Devil | Triggers a ghost event near the closest player | 10% |
Death | Triggers a 20-second longer Cursed Hunt; further draws during the hunt have no effect | 10% |
The High Priestess | Instantly revives a dead teammate | 2% |
The Hanged Man | Instantly kills the user | 1% |
What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?
Screenshot by The EscapistCursed Possessions are high-risk items that spawn randomly in Phasmophobia, offering powerful effects but at the cost of increased danger to your character. They provide shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, unlike standard equipment which focuses on evidence gathering. The risk/reward balance varies between objects. Only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings), always in a fixed location. Seven Cursed Objects exist: Haunted Mirror, Voodoo Doll, Music Box, Tarot Cards, Ouija Board, Monkey Paw, and Summoning Circle.
