Concord: Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay Tips Unveiled
With Concord's launch on August 23rd fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have detailed the game's post-launch content plan. This article summarizes the updates and offers gameplay strategies.
Concord's Content Roadmap: No Battle Pass Required
Launching on August 23rd for PS5 and PC, Concord will receive continuous updates starting on day one. Game Director Ryan Ellis, in a recent PlayStation Blog post, highlighted seasonal updates featuring new characters, maps, game modes, storylines, features, and more. The developers emphasize launch as merely the beginning of Concord's journey.
Unlike many hero shooters, Concord will not feature a traditional Battle Pass. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, leveling up, and completing objectives.
Season 1: The Tempest - Arriving in October
Concord's first major update, "Season 1: The Tempest," launches in October, introducing a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and new cosmetics. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the Northstar crew's story.
An in-game store will debut in Season 1, offering purely cosmetic customization options that won't affect gameplay balance. These items supplement the rewards earned through progression.
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, demonstrating Firewalk Studios' commitment to regular seasonal content throughout Concord's first year.
Gameplay Strategies and Crew Builder
Ellis also shared optimal gameplay strategies. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for team customization with five unique Freegunners, with up to three copies of any Variant permitted. This enables players to tailor their team to their playstyle and match challenges.
The Crew Builder encourages diverse Freegunner roles for special Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more. Unlike typical Tank/Support roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and effective gunfights. Six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—impact matches through area control, long-range advantage, and flanking.
