Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change
Treyarch has responded to player feedback and rolled back a recent change to the Zombies Directed Mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The January 3rd update introduced alterations to the Citadelle des Morts map and the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod, alongside several bug fixes. However, the extension of time between rounds and zombie spawns in Directed Mode after five looped rounds proved unpopular, prompting a swift reversal.
The January 9th patch notes confirm the removal of the extended spawn delay, restoring it to approximately 20 seconds after five looped rounds. This decision follows community concerns that the change negatively impacted kill farming and camo challenges. Additional fixes for Citadelle des Morts Directed Mode address quest progression issues related to stamps and glitches. Visual bugs and crashes associated with the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud have also been resolved.
Furthermore, the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod received substantial buffs:
- Normal enemy activation rate increased to 20% (from 15%).
- Special enemy activation rate increased to 7% (from 5%).
- Elite enemy activation rate (with Big Game Augment) increased to 7% (from 5%).
- Cooldown reduced by 25%.
These changes aim to counterbalance previous adjustments and maintain the Ammo Mod's effectiveness.
The update also includes various stability fixes across the game. Multiplayer received XP increases for the Red Light, Green Light mode, while Zombies saw adjustments to the Dead Light, Green Light Limited Time Mode (LTM), adding Liberty Falls and increasing the round cap to 20.
Treyarch acknowledges that some fixes require more extensive testing and will be included in the upcoming Season 2 update on January 28th. This includes addressing the Vermin double-attack bug and enabling the Shock Charge speedrun tactic in Terminus. Until then, players can still complete the Citadelle des Morts main quest to earn rewards before Season 1 Reloaded concludes.
