Unveiling Hyper Light Breaker: Guide to Acquiring New Arsenal

Feb 20,2025 Author: Isaac

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a strong weapon is crucial for any successful build. While starting with basic equipment, players progressively unlock superior weapons tailored to their preferred playstyles. This guide details how to acquire and upgrade weapons in this unique blend of roguelike and extraction mechanics.

Acquiring New Weapons

New weapons are primarily found within Overgrowths. While exploration naturally yields gear, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map directly leads to these weapon types.

Blades are melee weapons with distinct movesets and abilities, while Rails are ranged weapons, each possessing unique functionalities. Both weapon types have varying rarity levels, with gold representing the highest rarity and, consequently, the best stats.

Instead of immediately equipping a discovered weapon, utilize the Cache function to store it in your personal stash. This allows for loadout customization before subsequent runs.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond finding weapons during gameplay, players can purchase new starting weapons from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants offer limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. Patience may be required to find desired weapons.

Weapon Upgrades

Weapon upgrades are available at the Outpost merchants, but require unlocking the upgrade feature by increasing merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a rare resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations judiciously due to their scarcity.

Death results in a durability loss (one pip) for equipped weapons, eventually leading to breakage with repeated deaths.
