FF7 Remake Part 3: PS5 Launch Confirmed, Multi-Platform Release Planned
The highly anticipated final installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy will debut on the PlayStation 5, according to producers Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi. This confirmation, revealed during a January 23, 2025 interview with 4Gamer, alleviates concerns among PlayStation fans following the staggered releases of previous installments.

Release Date and Development Progress:
While Square Enix remains tight-lipped about a specific release date, Hamaguchi offered a positive update during a January 23, 2025 Famitsu interview, stating development is progressing smoothly and on schedule. A playable build confirming the game's direction was achieved by the end of 2024. Kitase also expressed satisfaction with the completed storyline, hinting at a satisfying conclusion for fans.

Timed Exclusivity Expected:
A March 6, 2024 Washington Post report suggests PlayStation secured timed exclusivity for the entire FF7 Remake trilogy. Following the pattern of previous releases (FF7 Remake: one-year PS4 exclusivity, FF7 Remake Intergrade: six-month PS5 exclusivity, FF7 Rebirth: timed PS5 exclusivity before a January 23, 2025 PC release), FF7 Remake Part 3 is likely to follow suit with a period of PS5 exclusivity before launching on other platforms.

Square Enix's Multi-Platform Shift:
Despite the success of the FF7 Remake series, Square Enix's March 31, 2024 financial report revealed declining HD title sales. In response, the company announced a shift towards a more aggressive multi-platform strategy, encompassing Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. This strategy aims to boost sales and potentially broaden the reach of future titles, including those in the FF7 Remake series, beyond the initial PlayStation exclusivity period.
