Obtaining Filler Metal in NieR: Automata: A Comprehensive Guide
This guide details the two methods for acquiring Filler Metal in NieR: Automata, a crucial upgrade material. Finding it can be challenging, relying on both luck and strategic gameplay.
Locating Filler Metal in the Factory
Filler Metal is a rare drop found in specific item spawn locations deep within the Factory. The exact spawn points are randomized, making farming inefficient. The Factory: Hanger access point, unlocked after progressing through the main story, provides a convenient starting point for searching. Note that you may need to unlock this access point again depending on your story progress.
While movement speed boosts can slightly improve efficiency, reliably farming Filler Metal remains difficult. The most effective strategy is to thoroughly explore the Factory, collecting all naturally spawning items. However, purchasing Filler Metal offers a far more reliable, albeit expensive, alternative.
Purchasing Filler Metal in the Amusement Park
The only vendor selling Filler Metal is the Shopkeeper Machine in the Amusement Park. However, this option only becomes available after completing all three playthroughs and obtaining one of the final endings. Accessing the Shopkeeper via Chapter Select will then reveal Filler Metal in its inventory, priced at 11,250 G each.
Despite the high cost, purchasing Filler Metal is significantly more reliable than the unpredictable Factory farming method. Given the necessity of Filler Metal for essential Pod upgrades and overcoming high-level enemies, this method may prove more efficient in the long run.
