*R.E.P.O.*, the thrilling co-op horror game that hit the scene in February, has captured the hearts of over 200,000 PC gamers. But what about console players? Are they going to get a chance to experience the chills and thrills of *R.E.P.O.*? Here's the latest scoop on whether *R.E.P.O.* will make its way to consoles.
Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?
As of now, *R.E.P.O.* remains a PC-exclusive title, and there's no indication from its developer, semiwork, that a console version is in the works. The team at semiwork is currently focused on perfecting the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges. Specifically, they're grappling with the delicate balance of enhancing multiplayer mechanics while preventing the game from becoming a playground for cheaters.
"The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained in an interview with PCGamer. This complex issue needs to be resolved before any thoughts of a console port can even be entertained.
While other PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar premise of evading monsters, have also stayed PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned considering a console release, but technical hurdles have kept it from happening. Since then, there's been no further news on a console version.
So, to answer the burning question: Will *R.E.P.O.* come to consoles? The developer has not shown any interest in pursuing a console release and is instead concentrating on refining the multiplayer aspects of the PC version.
