Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, according to Hashino. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he initially conceived as a third major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become Atlus' flagship title.
While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is actively pursuing their next project. An anime adaptation, however, is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable success for Atlus, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961 – surpassing the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
