Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious region located in the north of Reaper's Coast, shrouded in intrigue and cut off from the mainland by a deadly veil of Deathfog. The once-standing bridge that connected it to the coast lies in ruins, making traditional access to the island seemingly impossible. Venturing onto Bloodmoon Island not only thickens the main plot of Divinity: Original Sin 2 but also unlocks a wealth of additional side quests.

Navigating past the Deathfog to reach Bloodmoon Island can be a daunting task, as the game offers few hints on how to proceed. Here's a comprehensive guide on all the ways to reach Bloodmoon Island and further your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

The bridge to Bloodmoon Island, now destroyed, was once a lifeline connecting it to Reaper's Coast's mainland, located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the haunts of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge's remains, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint nearby.

To traverse the broken bridge, cast Spirit Vision to reveal its shattered segments. Be wary, as some sections are trapped, adding complexity to your crossing. However, with the right skills and items, you can overcome this challenge:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired early in the game, these gloves enable teleportation without needing the skill. Use them to transport your companions across the bridge, albeit laboriously.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation capabilities, essential for crossing the broken bridge. Not all party members may possess these skills, hence the need for alternative strategies.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: With four of these artifacts in the game, you can warp between them. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory, let them cross using translocation skills, and the rest of the party can then warp to their location on the other side.
  4. Fast Travel: If a party member with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest can fast travel there, bypassing the bridge entirely.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

For parties with Fane, an additional method is available. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog, making him uniquely suited to cross it safely.

Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive promise; everyone but Fane will perish in the Deathfog. Fane, however, can take the ferry alone and reach the island unharmed. Once there, he can discover the waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel to Bloodmoon Island.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

Without Fane in your party, using the ferry to cross the Deathfog requires careful planning and the use of Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain your party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion boarding the ferry.
  2. The companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. Use the second pyramid with the rest of the party to warp to the deceased companion.
  4. Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll to continue your adventure.

If Fane is not part of your party, taking the bridge is the most straightforward and quickest method to reach Bloodmoon Island.

It's crucial to avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, causing instant death to anyone within its range. If you're tempted to challenge him, ensure you quick save first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
