Larian Studios has announced that the Patch 8 stress test build for Baldur's Gate 3 will launch in January. This exciting update can be accessed through Steam on PC, as well as on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Unfortunately, players using Mac or GOG platforms will not have access to this stress test. If you're interested, the registration form for the stress test is currently open and ready for your sign-up.
Before the official release of Patch 8, Larian is committed to thoroughly testing it to ensure there are no issues with instability or gameplay. "With your help, we'll be able to keep an eye on any funny business," the developer humorously stated. A key focus of this testing phase is the introduction of crossplay. Larian acknowledged the challenge of implementing crossplay in a game as expansive as Baldur's Gate 3, saying, "Bringing crossplay to a game the size of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been no easy task, and we want your help to test-drive this new functionality."
To make the most of the stress test, Larian encourages players to share the registration link with friends to organize a crossplay campaign. Alternatively, you can join the Larian Studios Discord Server to find a group to play with, enhancing your testing experience.
While Patch 8 marks the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios isn't stepping away from the game just yet. The developer has promised ongoing support for the game's modding community, with "big updates still to come." These updates will include enhanced functionality to allow players to craft their own unique stories within the game. Since the release of the official mod tools in September, the community has shown immense enthusiasm, downloading over 70 million modules and uploading more than 3,000 mods.
