The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Aim for Witcher 3 Quality

Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for a quality comparable to The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.

A Focused, High-Quality Experience

The Blood of Dawnwalker's Ambitious Scope

In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the game's ambition. While acknowledging the studio's size and the fact that The Blood of Dawnwalker is their debut title, he emphasized their commitment to AAA-level quality, citing The Witcher 3 as their benchmark.

The team, composed of veterans who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, possesses considerable experience. Rebel Wolves was founded to allow for greater creative freedom than larger AAA studios often afford.

The Blood of Dawnwalker's Narrative Focus

Tomaszkiewicz explained that while the game's scope is smaller than a typical AAA title, they aim for a robust, high-quality experience. The planned campaign length is 30-40 hours, a duration he argues is not necessarily indicative of a game's quality or classification. He points out that many AAA titles, such as Call of Duty, don't reach 100+ hours of gameplay.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant granted vampiric powers, who embarks on a quest to save his sister while navigating the dangers of this mystical land.

While a release date is yet to be announced, the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a gameplay reveal expected in Summer 2025.
