Monster Hunter Wilds simplifies many series mechanics, making monster tracking largely unnecessary. However, there's one exception: the Black Flame. Here's how to find it.
Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
Around the midpoint of Monster Hunter Wilds' main story, Chapter 3, the Black Flame monster appears before disappearing into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission: find and defeat it.
Exit Base Camp and head towards Zone 9 of the Oilwell Basin (see map below).

Along the way, you'll discover tar tracks. Examine them; your hunter will pick up the Black Flame's scent, automatically alerting the scoutflies. Follow the green trail illuminated by the scoutflies in Zone 9, leading to a giant flaming crater, to locate the Black Flame.
The Black Flame (Nu Udra) is a tentacled beast wielding fire-based attacks. Strategically targeting its tentacles first simplifies the fight, granting access to its inner weak points for easier material harvesting.
Pack plenty of Cool Drinks to counter the region's intense heat and prevent continuous health depletion.
