In an official statement, 4A Games clarified its relationship with Reburn, offering congratulations on La Quimera while emphasizing its ongoing dedication to the Metro series. The statement confirmed: "We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games. Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."
Beyond the next Metro installment, 4A Games hinted at development on a new, unannounced IP. The studio highlighted its Ukrainian roots and diverse team, noting that approximately 150 of its over 200 employees remain based in Kyiv, with additional offices in Sliema, Malta, and remote workers.
Regarding the company split, 4A Games explained that after Metro Exodus and its DLC, they collaborated with 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Following Exodus, 4A Games Limited was established in Kyiv, incorporating approximately 50 additional employees. Concurrently, 4A Games Ukraine launched its independent venture with La Quimera, later rebranding as Reburn.
Since the 2019 release of Metro Exodus, fan anticipation for a sequel has grown amidst limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have maintained interest, many eagerly await the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic world. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially teased a new Metro title in 2019, suggesting a release within the "202X" timeframe before becoming silent. It now appears that this wait may soon conclude.
