Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Switch and PS4 in Europe. The reason cited is technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization. This news has left many fans disappointed.

A String of Delays Leads to Cancellation

Meridiem Games' Twitter (X) announcement revealed the cancellation of the physical European release. While the publisher stated technical issues with localization as the cause, further details were not provided in response to fan inquiries.

The game's European physical release, initially slated for March 2023, faced multiple delays. Initially postponed to December 2023, then to March 2024, and finally to January 2025, the repeated setbacks ultimately resulted in the cancellation. Pre-orders through retailers like Amazon were affected, with customers receiving notifications of the cancellations.

This is a significant blow to European fans, particularly those anticipating the game's official release in Spanish and other local languages. While importing a US copy remains an option, the cancellation prevents an official physical release within Europe.

Omori, an RPG following Sunny's journey through reality and his dream world as Omori, launched on PC in December 2020. Switch, PS4, and Xbox releases followed in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an inappropriate T-shirt design sold by OMOCAT in 2013.
