Warner Bros. Shuts Down Mortal Kombat: Onslaught One Year Post-Launch

Warner Bros. Games has announced the end of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, just shy of a year since its launch. The mobile game was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. Dive in to learn more about the impending shutdown of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught.

Come August 23rd, 2024, all in-game purchases will be halted. You'll have until October 21st, 2024, to savor the brutal battles. After October 21st, the servers will shut down, marking the end of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught.

The reasons behind the termination of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught remain undisclosed. However, the recent closure of NetherRealm's mobile games division, which also developed Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice, suggests a larger strategic shift that may impact other mobile titles from the same team.

What About In-Game Purchases?

If you've invested in in-game purchases, you may be concerned about what happens next. Unfortunately, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have not yet provided details on refunds for your spent currency and customization items.

They have promised more information soon, so keep an eye on their official X (Twitter) account to stay updated on any news regarding refunds.

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is an action-adventure beat 'em up RPG that was released in October 2023, following its announcement in October 2022 to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary. This game offers a unique twist in the Mortal Kombat universe, being the fourth entry that diverges from traditional fighting games.

It blends fierce combat with a rich cinematic narrative, reminiscent of free-to-play mobile MOBAs. The storyline focuses on thwarting the fallen Elder God Shinnok from regaining his power, with assistance from Raiden and your fighter squad.

That's all the latest on the Mortal Kombat: Onslaught shutdown. Before you go, check out our other news, including the exciting updates from Tennocon 2024 on Warframe: 1999 and what's next!
