A solution to this repetitive task is an auto-petter, which unfortunately isn't available in the base game. However, there's a workaround using mods that can make your farming life much easier.
Fields of Mistria Auto-Petter Guide
The vanilla version of *Fields of Mistria* does not include an auto-petter, meaning players must manually pet their livestock every day. But don't worry, you can solve this issue with the help of mods. The recommended mod for this purpose is the Animal Friends mod by annanomoly, available on Nexus Mods. This mod not only automates the petting but also feeds your animals automatically. To use this mod, you'll need to install it using the Mods of Mistria Installer, a crucial tool that ensures the mod activates correctly.
To install the mod, follow these steps:
- Create a new folder named 'Mods' in your *Fields of Mistria* directory.
- Download the AnimalFriends.zip file and place it in the 'Mods' folder.
- Extract the contents of the zip file.
- Delete or move the original zip file to another location.
- Run the Mods of Mistria Installer to complete the installation.
The Animal Friends mod comes packed with several features. In addition to the auto-petter, you can enable an auto-feeder, a friendship multiplier, and a feature to prevent friendship loss. The friendship multiplier increases the hearts your animals gain, while the prevent friendship loss feature keeps those hearts from decreasing.
To customize these features, you'll need to edit the AnimalFriends.json file located in the mod's folder. It's a straightforward text document where you can toggle features on or off by changing "false" to "true." For example, to activate the auto-petter, you would change the line to ["auto-pet": true]. Similarly, to disable a feature, switch "true" back to "false."
The friendship multiplier setting requires a number input, ranging from 1 to 100. If you wish to accelerate bonding with your animals, set it to the maximum, 100. To revert to normal bonding rates, simply change it back to 1.
Upon installation, the mod comes with default settings where auto-pet and auto-feed are inactive, but the friendship multiplier is set to five, and the prevent friendship loss feature is automatically enabled.
To safely remove the mod, do not simply delete the mod folder. Instead, use the Mods of Mistria Installer to uninstall it properly, which prevents any potential corruption or errors in your save file.
