PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

Mar 16,2025 Author: Scarlett

The recent PlayStation State of Play showcase highlighted *Days Gone Remastered*, but its $10 upgrade price tag has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony's confirmed that this discounted upgrade is exclusively for those owning a PlayStation 4 disc or digital copy of the original game. PS Plus subscribers, including those who accessed *Days Gone* through the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly games, are ineligible for the $10 upgrade and must pay the full $49.99 for the PS5 remaster.

This policy has led to widespread online complaints. Many PS Plus subscribers express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee but are now opting to skip the remastered version entirely. A PlayStation Plus subreddit post exemplifies this sentiment, with users highlighting the potential lost revenue for Sony by excluding a significant portion of their player base. Comments such as "They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible," and "They should let Essentials upgrade cause I would pay the $10, but I will not buy it any other way," reflect the widespread frustration.

While some argue that Sony's decision is financially driven, others criticize the company's perceived stinginess. The free distribution of *Days Gone* through PS Plus is seen by some as a missed opportunity to generate additional revenue, with one user stating, "They gave away the game for free so every copy is an extra £10/$10 they wouldn't have had but they decided to be awkward instead and cut out half the owner base." The lack of a more generous upgrade option is fueling criticism, even among hardcore fans.
