Application Description

This versatile media player doubles as a UPnP DLNA DMR (Digital Media Renderer), offering seamless playback of various media formats. It leverages the Storage Access Framework (SAF) for user-controlled file access.

The player boasts comprehensive subtitle support, including SSA/ASS, SUP (Blu-ray), and VobSub (DVD) formats (VobSub support since version 5.1). Subtitles can be embedded within MKV files or loaded separately. Users can easily select individual subtitle files or zipped packages (Zip/7Z/RAR). Advanced subtitle customization is available, including dimming for HDR/DV compatibility, font resizing, and custom font management.

Enjoy high-dynamic-range (HDR/DV) content playback with features like digital audio passthrough, MKV chapter navigation, frame-by-frame stepping, audio track selection and delay, subtitle selection and timing adjustments, frame rate display, and automatic refresh rate adjustment. Pinch-to-zoom and video rotation options enhance the viewing experience. Dolby Vision playback has been successfully tested on the Nvidia Shield TV 2019.

Initially designed for segmented file playback using m3u8 (HLS) playlists (originally TS-only, now supporting MP4 and FLV), this player offers a complete media solution.

Version 4.3.1 (February 26, 2023) Updates:

  • Important Note: On some Android systems, the app must run in the foreground for DLNA projection.

  • Bug fixes addressing subtitle auto-selection, a 0:00 first chapter issue, and general system compatibility.

  • Added a default subtitle language setting to the subtitle selection menu.

  • Enhanced subtitle file selection via the Storage Access Framework content page, allowing access to files from local storage, Samba/Windows shares, and WebDAV clients through compatible SAF provider apps.

  • Attempted resolution of a DMR service crash bug.
