How to Beat and Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Eager to master the art of hunting the Chatacabra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*? This long-tongued amphibian is one of your early encounters, but fear not—here's how to effectively kill or capture it to enhance your hunting prowess.

How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Chatacabra, a formidable frog-like monster, primarily engages in close-quarters combat with its versatile tongue. It may also attempt to charge at you if you keep your distance. While any weapon can be used effectively against it, due to its smaller size, weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less optimal compared to others that can deliver concentrated hits.

Most of its attacks are centered around its tongue, putting you at risk when positioned in front of it. It also uses its front limbs for a telegraphed slam attack, signaled by rearing up. A less common move involves a rearward tongue sweep when it raises its head skyward.

To conquer the Chatacabra, position yourself near its sides to minimize exposure to its frontal attacks. Dodge or block when it prepares for a slam. Exploiting its elemental weaknesses, such as ice and thunder, will expedite its downfall, paving the way for your victory and perhaps a stylish new frog skin hat.

How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Chatacabra follows the standard procedure in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Since it can't fly, the process is straightforward. Equip yourself with either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap, and carry at least two Tranq Bombs—ideally, bring one of each trap and up to eight Tranq Bombs to ensure success.

Engage the Chatacabra in battle until its health is low enough that its icon on the mini-map shows a skull, indicating it's limping to a new area for the last time. Follow it to its chosen retreat spot, set up your trap, and lure it in. Once the Chatacabra is ensnared, deploy two Tranq Bombs to sedate it, completing the capture process efficiently.
