One WoW Character Perishes in Patch 11.1

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: Undermine - A Goblin's Demise Sparks Revolution

Key Spoilers for World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: Undermine

The upcoming World of Warcraft patch, 11.1: Undermine, delivers a shocking twist: the death of a beloved character. Renzik "The Shiv," a long-standing Goblin Rogue and familiar face to many players, is killed during the patch's story campaign. This pivotal moment ignites a rebellion, setting the stage for the new raid.

Renzik's demise occurs during a mission in Undermine, the Goblin capital. He and Gazlowe, leader of the Bilgewater Cartel, are working to thwart Gallywix's plans and secure the Dark Heart. An assassination attempt targeting Gazlowe results in Renzik taking the fatal blow. This sacrifice, documented by Wowhead lore analyst Portergauge, dramatically alters the narrative.

Though not a central figure in WoW's overarching lore, Renzik holds a special place in the hearts of many, especially Alliance Rogues. As one of the original Rogue trainers in Stormwind, he's a veteran NPC, predating playable Goblins by several years.

However, Renzik's death is far from meaningless. His sacrifice fuels Gazlowe's rage, pushing him to lead a revolution against Gallywix. This rebellion forms the core narrative of the "Liberation of Undermine" raid. Gallywix's attempt to eliminate Gazlowe inadvertently creates a martyr in Renzik, galvanizing the Goblin populace.

The final boss of the Liberation of Undermine raid is Gallywix himself. Given the typical fate of final raid bosses in WoW, his survival seems unlikely, hinting at a possible demise for the self-proclaimed Chrome King. Patch 11.1 promises significant changes to the World of Warcraft storyline, with the death of a beloved character sparking a major conflict.
