Mastering Rune Slayer: Essential Tips for New Players

After a long wait and two delayed launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides crucial early-game advice to smooth your adventure.

Here are some things we wish we'd known sooner:

Avoid Unprovoked PvP

While Rune Slayer features full-loot PvP, it's not as brutal as it sounds. Death doesn't result in permanent item loss. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. The higher your bounty, the more loot you drop upon death. Therefore, avoid attacking unless you have a compelling reason or reliable backup.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. The Cotton Bag, crafted using Cotton (north of Wayshire) and Flax (south of Wayshire – be cautious of mobs!), adds 10 slots. Craft these ASAP.

Pet Deaths are Temporary

Contrary to popular belief, your pets don't die permanently. After reaching 0 health, they have a 5-minute cooldown before resummoning (check with the 'T' key). For quick healing, store and retrieve your pet at the stable master (you have one free slot).

Accept Every Quest

Rune Slayer boasts numerous quests, mostly standard "kill X" tasks. To streamline your progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, quests can be combined, making progress more efficient.

Craft Everything (At Least Once)

Prioritize crafting necessary items, but don't hesitate to craft anything you can with spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks new, more advanced recipes.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group effort. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find groups for challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.

Enjoy Rune Slayer! For further assistance, consult the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord server.
