Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has poured cold water on hopes of a speedy release for the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse. He revealed he hasn't even begun recording his lines yet.
In an interview with Decider, Jerome stated that production on the presumed trilogy finale hasn't commenced, with several aspects still "being figured out." This news, while not entirely unexpected given the five-year gap between the first and second films, will undoubtedly disappoint many eager fans.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the film's production status. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his part in the third installment is expected to be significantly larger. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He's poised to play the main antagonist. Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who appears at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
This Miles's journey diverges sharply from the protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for the main Miles instead bit this alternate version, altering his destiny. Consequently, Miles G. Morales never became Spider-Man, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains—with Miles himself becoming one.
The narrative's resolution, and the ensuing conflict with the main Miles who did become Spider-Man, will likely unfold in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans face a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
