Sony Unveils Film Adaptations of 'Helldivers 2' and 'Horizon Zero Dawn'

Sony's Hit Game Helldivers 2 Gets the Hollywood Treatment at CES 2025

Sony made a big splash at CES 2025, announcing a film adaptation of its highly successful game, Helldivers 2. The project is a collaboration between PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.

The exciting news was revealed by Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, who stated, "We're thrilled to announce the commencement of development on a movie based on our incredibly popular Helldivers 2." While specifics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate spectacular space battles brought to life on the silver screen.

Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Studios, is a captivating shooter drawing inspiration from the classic Star Troopers franchise. The game achieved phenomenal success, becoming PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. Its popularity surged even further following the Illuminate update, which reintroduced a beloved enemy faction from the original Helldivers game.

Adding to the excitement, a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works, a joint venture between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures – the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted movie adaptation.

Qizilbash offered a glimpse into the Horizon Zero Dawn project, commenting, "We're in the early stages of production for the Horizon Zero Dawn movie, but we can assure audiences that this world and its characters will receive their first-ever cinematic presentation."
