Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.
A year after its announcement, Smite 2, built with Unreal Engine 5, delivers a refined experience. Visuals and combat are improved, and the item shop has been overhauled for greater flexibility. Core gameplay remains true to the original: 5v5 god-based battles across diverse cultures. The closed alpha phase has concluded, making the game accessible to all.
The open beta introduces substantial new content:
- New Gods: Aladdin (a Smite 2 exclusive, with unique wall-running and revival mechanics), Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon).
- Game Modes: The popular 3v3 Joust mode returns, alongside Conquest and an alpha version of Assault.
- New Map: An Arthurian-themed map joins the roster.
- God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods.
- Conquest Map Updates: Improvements to the existing Conquest map.
The developer highlights significant improvements over the original Smite, thanking the alpha testers for their feedback. Ambitious new content is promised for 2025. While currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns, Titan Forge Games remains open to a potential release on the Switch 2. Smite fans can download and play the open beta now.
