Unveiling the New Trailer
The Silent Hill Transmission, aired March 13, 2025, offered fans a fresh look at Silent Hill f, including a captivating new trailer. Unlike its predecessors, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan.
The game's narrative unfolds: "Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager, finds her life irrevocably altered when her town is enveloped in a chilling fog, undergoing a horrifying transformation. She must navigate this unrecognizable landscape, solving puzzles, battling grotesque enemies, and ultimately confronting a devastating choice that will define her fate. This is a story of a beautiful, yet terrifying decision."
The game is set in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by a real-life town in Kanayama, Gero, Gifu Prefecture. Developers meticulously recreated the town, capturing its intricate alleyways. They used photographic references, recorded authentic soundscapes of daily life, and incorporated historical materials to accurately reflect the 1960s setting.
Where Beauty Meets Terror

According to Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto, the core concept behind Silent Hill f is to "find the beauty in terror." While retaining the series' signature psychological horror, typically explored within Western settings, the team aimed to push boundaries by embracing a Japanese setting and its unique thematic elements.
Okamoto explains, "Japanese horror often features the unsettling notion that beauty itself can be terrifying. When perfection becomes overwhelming, it breeds unease. Players will experience this world through the eyes of a young girl grappling with a choice that is both beautiful and horrifying."
A Standalone Silent Hill Experience

Okamoto emphasizes that Silent Hill f is a self-contained narrative, accessible to newcomers to the series. However, long-time fans will discover subtle easter eggs interwoven throughout the game. He also notes that fans of Ryukishi07, renowned for his psychological Japanese horror visual novels, will find much to appreciate.
As a longtime fan of the franchise, Ryukishi07, having played every Silent Hill game, views Silent Hill f as both a return to the series' roots and a new set of challenges. One significant hurdle was whether they could successfully create a Silent Hill game without relying on the familiar titular town.
He states, "From a creator's perspective, I'm confident we've delivered a true Silent Hill experience. However, we're eager to hear from longtime fans and see if they share that sentiment."
Silent Hill f is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A specific release date has yet to be announced. For the latest updates on Silent Hill f, check out our related article below!
