How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
At the start of Hollow Era, you begin as a Soul Spirit. To become a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must accept the initial quest from the NPC named Hurt Shinigami, who is calling for help. Once you commit to becoming a Shinigami, you're locked into this path, unable to progress as a Hollow unless you later become a Visored. If you're keen on playing as a Hollow, refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.

Screenshot by The EscapistDuring the selection process, you must act quickly. Choosing to become a Hollow requires breaking your chain, while opting for Shinigami means the chain will slowly break on its own. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if it fully breaks, you'll automatically become a Hollow. In such a case, consult our guide on resurrection moves for your Hollow endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your first task as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, aligning with the Shinigami's duty to maintain balance between life and death. Next, you'll receive a quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

Screenshot by The EscapistThis is an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop. If you have the funds, use the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option, as the map is vast and involves a lot of running. Alternatively, you can buy infinite fast travel for 149 Robux in the Robux Shop.

To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, you must strategically allocate your skill points. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami.
- Kido Nodes increase the damage of Kido skills.
- Reiatsu Nodes boost your maximum Reiatsu output.
Here are some Kido abilities and their descriptions:
- Caja Negacion: Forms a beam of lightning from your finger. When combined with Electric, it spreads electricity from the target.
- Shakkaho: Creates a red energy ball in your hand that explodes upon impact. With Ragdoll, it can knock back opponents, and with Fire, it sets them ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies towards you.
- Prison of Light: Encircles the enemy with six light rods, immobilizing them.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving ball of lightning that causes electric damage and explodes on contact, ideal for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To obtain Shikai in Hollow Era, you must reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to start the Shikai Training quest. Your task is to defeat Urahara Kisuke for 1,700 exp, unlocking Shikai powers upon completion.

Screenshot by The EscapistWarning: If your character isn't fully optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging. Consider grinding to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random powerful ability. If you're not satisfied with the new power, you can re-roll it at Urahara Shop for a fee.
The game features a Rage Bar that fills with damage taken or dealt. When full, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which ends when your Reiatsu is depleted or you release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level depends on the Mastery Points you earn by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage spent during Shikai use and come with different aura effects and character appearances.
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Once you choose the Shinigami path, you can't switch to Hollow unless you become a Visored. To do so, you must reach level 50 or higher and unlock the Vizard fighting style at the Vizard’s Warehouse.

Screenshot by The EscapistBecoming a Visored involves using Hogyoku, an orb that breaks the barrier between Hollow and Shinigami. To obtain Hogyoku, you must defeat the King of Hueco Mundo, though the drop rate is only 1%. This is the first step in unlocking Visored progression.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain access to new perks and buffs. Mask Control reduces the chance of being controlled by your inner Hollow, while the Visored node extends the duration of your mask, enhancing your damage output with Hollow powers.

- Hollow Mask: Allows you to control your inner Hollow and wear the mask at will.
- Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu for significant damage.
- Final Cero: Pins the enemy down and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
- Vasto Rage: Temporarily transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type, unleashing your full potential.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Currently, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. However, given the game's popularity, it's likely to be added in future updates. No release date has been confirmed yet, so keep an eye out for updates.
