A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been canceled after several years of development. No reason for the cancellation was given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, ruling out Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists to develop it.
This isn't the first Respawn project to be canceled. An arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends was shut down last year.
The Titanfall series is celebrated for its unique blend of fast-paced action and mech combat, allowing players to fight as agile pilots or powerful Titans. Since its 2014 debut, the franchise has earned a strong following for its innovative gameplay, combining parkour with intense team battles.
Respawn is currently concentrating on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new Star Wars strategy game developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
