Relic Entertainment, the acclaimed developer behind Company of Heroes, is venturing into new territory with their upcoming game, *Earth vs. Mars*. Scheduled for release this Summer on PC via Steam, this smaller-scale turn-based strategy game draws inspiration from the beloved Nintendo DS classic, *Advance Wars*. In *Earth vs. Mars*, players take on the role of defending Earth from a Martian invasion using an innovative tool known as the Splice-O-Tron. This device allows players to create unique "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids," such as the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly, to combat the extraterrestrial threat.
According to Relic, the backstory reveals that Martians have been secretly visiting Earth for decades, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they’ve launched a full-scale invasion, and it's up to a diverse group of commanders to lead Earth's resistance. Players will command Earth’s military forces against advanced Martian technology, including high-tech saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors, in a gripping fight for survival.

*Earth vs. Mars* offers a rich gaming experience, featuring a 30+ mission single-player campaign that immerses players in the battle against Martian invaders. For those seeking competitive play, the game includes online multiplayer options where players can choose to fight as either Earth or Mars. Additionally, there's a VS Mode for challenging the game's AI, and a map editor for creating custom battlefields.
Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell shared his excitement about the project, stating, “We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the *Advance Wars* style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles.” He also highlighted Relic's new strategy of exploring smaller Indie-style games alongside their traditional RTS titles. This approach aims to allow the studio to experiment, fuel creativity, and release games more frequently. If *Earth vs. Mars* piques your interest, you can wishlist it on Steam to stay updated on its release.
