Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Hourglasses Remain Essential for Future Expansions

Recent speculation suggested that the upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion would render Pack Hourglasses obsolete. However, The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed that this is untrue. Pack Hourglasses will continue to function as intended, reducing booster pack opening delays by one hour per hourglass, regardless of the expansion.

This confirmation is welcome news for players who have been stockpiling hourglasses. The Mythical Island expansion, released after the game's October 2024 launch, added 68 new cards. With another expansion anticipated in January 2025, concerns arose about the future utility of these time-saving items. Rumors of a new in-game currency specifically for expansion hourglasses have been dispelled by The Pokemon Company.

The statement assures players that their existing Pack Hourglasses remain valuable assets. While the game already features various currencies (Wonder Hourglasses, Special, Event, and standard Shop Tickets, Poke Gold, Pack Points, etc.), the current system of using Pack Hourglasses to reduce the 12-hour Pack Stamina wait time will persist. Players can still earn these hourglasses through daily challenges and the daily Complimentary Item Set in the shop, allowing for the opening of at least two booster packs per day.

This announcement should alleviate concerns among players who feared their accumulated Pack Hourglasses would become worthless. The continued relevance of Pack Hourglasses strongly suggests a positive outlook for the future of Pokemon TCG Pocket and its ongoing expansion plans.
