Pokémon GO: Morpeko Arrives, Dynamax/Gigantamax Teased!

Pokémon GO Adds Morpeko and More, Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax Coming to Game

Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has hinted at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This exciting news follows the confirmation of Morpeko's addition to the game.

The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," strongly suggesting the implementation of size-altering mechanics. Morpeko's form-changing ability, triggered by Charged Attacks, provides a thrilling glimpse into these potential gameplay shifts. Niantic stated, "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team."

While specifics remain under wraps, the "big" changes are expected to launch in September. Fan speculation points towards the introduction of other Galar region Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash, further fueling anticipation. The current Shared Skies season ends September 3rd, and the subsequent season's focus on Galar Pokémon is widely predicted. However, these remain unconfirmed until official announcements. The implementation of Power Spots, used in Sword and Shield, is also currently unknown.
