Who's That Pokémon!? This Pokémon Card Pack Scanner Can Tell You

Pokémon enthusiasts have recently uncovered a promotional video of a CT scanner able to unveil the contents of unsealed card packs. Read on to learn more about fans' reactions and opinions on how this might influence the Pokémon card market.

Pokémon Fans Discover “Industrial CT Scanning Unopened Pokemon Cards” Promo VideoYour Pokémon Guessing Abilities Will Now Be “Highly Sought After”

Following recent reports of a firm offering to disclose the contents of unopened Pokémon trading card packs, Pokémon fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on a "crazy" service targeting trading card collectors. For approximately 70 dollars, Industrial Inspection and Consulting (IIC) claims it can unveil which Pokémon are inside certain card packs without opening them.

Last month, IIC shared a YouTube promo video showcasing a CT scanner capable of revealing the contents of unopened Pokémon packs, and in turn, the identity of the Pokémon on the card. This service ignited discussion among Pokémon fans and trading card collectors regarding the impact on the Pokémon cards market.

Rare Pokémon cards' market values have soared, with some reaching hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars today. Fans often go to great lengths to acquire the rarest cards, and designer-signed Pokémon trading cards are especially sought-after. Earlier this year, a prominent Pokémon card illustrator was reported to have experienced constant stalking and harassment by card speculators, due to the demand for these trading cards.

Investing in Pokémon cards has become a substantial niche market, with many hoping to find the most valuable cards that will appreciate in value.

Some Pokémon enthusiasts and traders said they see potential benefits in scanning Pokémon card packs before opening them. Others on the company's YouTube video page commented feeling "threatened" or "disgusted" by this service. They worry it could compromise the integrity of the trading market, and potentially inflate prices, while others remained skeptical and disagreed.

Meanwhile, one fan humorously remarked that, finally, their "Pokémon identification skills are going to be highly sought after!"
