This news is a welcome addition for the 32 million players who've embraced Palworld since its January 2024 early access launch. Pocketpair has unveiled an extensive 2025 content roadmap, encompassing crossplay, a concluding scenario, and further additions to the popular creature-catching survival game.
Palworld's launch was a remarkable success. Priced at $30 on Steam and simultaneously available on Xbox and PC Game Pass, it shattered sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed the game's initial success was so significant that the developer couldn’t manage the overwhelming profits. Capitalizing on this momentum, Pocketpair swiftly partnered with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture dedicated to expanding the IP and launching the game on PS5.
However, the studio faces a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who allege Palworld infringes on "multiple" patent rights and are seeking "an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages." Pocketpair has responded by specifying the patents in question and modifying the Pal summoning mechanic within the game. The studio remains resolute, declaring: “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
