Unlocking Napoleon Bonaparte in Civilization 7: A Guide to Both Personas

Napoleon Bonaparte, a staple of the Civilization franchise, returns in Civilization 7 (Civ 7), but unlocking him requires a few extra steps depending on the persona you desire.

Unlocking the Emperor Napoleon Persona

To unlock Napoleon's Emperor Persona, you need a 2K account. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit portal.2k.com. Log in to your existing account or create a new one.
  2. Link your 2K account to your gaming platform via Connections -> Account Overview.

That's it! The Emperor Napoleon, a leader specializing in commerce and military strength, is now available. His unique ability, "Empereur des Francais," grants a unique sanction ("Continental System") reducing targeted leaders' trade route limits by 1, imposing a significant relationship penalty, and increasing the cost of rejection. He also gains +8 gold per age for each unfriendly or hostile leader. He can reject Endeavors for free.

His agenda, "Napoleonic Code," favors players with the smallest standing army and dislikes those with the largest standing navy.

Unlocking the Revolutionary Napoleon Persona

If the Emperor persona isn't your style, you can unlock Napoleon's Revolutionary Persona by having previously played Civilization 6.

  1. Follow the steps above to link your 2K account to Civ 7. Ensure your Civ 6 game is also linked. (Note: Playing Civ 6 on a different platform than Civ 7 is acceptable).

Upon launching Civ 7, the Revolutionary Napoleon will be available.

This Napoleon is a cultural/militaristic leader with the "La Grande Armee" ability: +1 movement for all land units, and defeating an enemy unit grants culture equal to 50% of its combat strength.

His agenda, "Culture from Conquest," disfavors leaders with many alliances but rewards players with the highest culture per turn.

This comprehensive guide ensures you can enjoy playing as Napoleon Bonaparte, in either his Emperor or Revolutionary persona, within Civilization 7.
