First Mortal Kombat 1 T-1000 Gameplay Looks Straight Out of Terminator 2, and There's a Surprise Kameo DLC Character Coming Too

NetherRealm Studios unveils gameplay for Mortal Kombat 1's T-1000 DLC character and announces Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter.

The T-1000's gameplay showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including blade and hook arm maneuvers. His moveset shares similarities with Baraka and Kabal, while his liquid metal transformation and uppercut evoke Killer Instinct's Glacius. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides voice and likeness for the character, his voice debuting in a clash with Johnny Cage. A highlighted Fatality recreates the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.

Surprisingly, Madam Bo, a fan-favorite character from Mortal Kombat 1's main story, joins the roster as a Kameo fighter, launching concurrently with the T-1000. Brief gameplay glimpses showcase her assisting the T-1000.

The T-1000 becomes available March 18th for early access (Khaos Reigns owners), with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo is a free update for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, or a standalone purchase.

The T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC character additions, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation regarding a potential third DLC pack or Kombat Pack 3 persists, fueled by questions surrounding Mortal Kombat 1's sales. However, Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the franchise remains strong, with plans to significantly invest in only four key titles, including Mortal Kombat.

Madam Bo is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as a Kameo fighter.

Ed Boon previously stated NetherRealm determined its next project three years prior, promising continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a third Injustice game, official confirmation remains pending. Boon cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 (from Unreal Engine 3 used in Mortal Kombat 11) as contributing factors to the decision to develop another Mortal Kombat title before returning to the Injustice franchise. He explicitly confirmed that the Injustice franchise is not abandoned.
