Mask Around: A Gooey Sequel That Packs a Punch
Mask Around, the sequel to 2020's quirky roguelike platformer Mask Up, is now available on Google Play. This time, players will experience a blend of run-and-gun action and close-quarters brawling. The signature yellow ooze returns, but with some surprising new gameplay twists.
For those unfamiliar with the original, Mask Up was a unique game where players evolved from a small puddle of yellow goo into a powerful, gooey warrior. Mask Around builds upon this foundation, adding 2D shooting mechanics to the mix. Players can seamlessly switch between ranged combat and melee attacks, utilizing their goo abilities strategically.
However, the precious yellow goo remains a limited resource, requiring careful management, especially during challenging boss encounters.
Strategic Goo Management
Mask Around offers a significant upgrade from its predecessor. While retaining the core gameplay of Mask Up, it introduces a deeper strategic layer. Players must carefully balance the use of their goo abilities with their weaponry, adapting their approach based on the situation. The improved graphics also enhance the overall experience.
Currently, Mask Around is only available on Android. While no iOS release has been announced, the game appears to be a substantial improvement over the original, offering a more polished and expansive gameplay experience.
