Should You Give Keipo the Leviathan Heart in Avowed?

Mar 15,2025 Author: Isaac

The final decision in Avowed's "Heart of Valor" quest presents a difficult choice for Keipo and his precious Leviathan Heart. After Chiko discovers Keipo's uncle plans to use the heart for suicide, and Keipo reveals his past involving the Leviathan and his partner Umpara's death, the consequences of your choices branch significantly. The core decision—whether to give Keipo the heart—determines your unique loot rewards. However, with careful dialogue choices, you can acquire *all* available gear.

We recommend *not* giving Keipo the Leviathan Heart. This path allows you to obtain all possible loot without revealing Keipo's secret to Thirdborn, preserving their hope. To achieve this, you must first find and read Keipo's Weathered Journal (located near the Leviathan Heart, activated by a button on a curved stone structure).

Let's examine the rewards for each choice before detailing the optimal dialogue options.

Reward for Giving Keipo the Leviathan Heart:

Keipo rewards you with Umpara's Spear, a unique Exceptional Quality +1/3 weapon:

Physical Damage88

Refusing the heart, and choosing the correct dialogue with Chiko, grants you the Stormdancer armor set:

To receive this armor, when Chiko says "I'm sorry my uncle is sick...", select: "Uh…about that. He’s not just sick. It’s the Dreamscourge.” “He wanted to die before he turned. He was trying to keep you safe.” “There *is* one way. We just stopped him from doing it.” Choosing incorrectly will anger Chiko, resulting in no armor.

How to Get All the Loot:

To obtain the Leviathan Heart, Umpara's Spear, and the Stormdancer armor set, without revealing Keipo's secret, use this dialogue order:

Talking to Keipo:

  1. “We need to talk. Now.”
  2. “Come clean. Chiko told me you want to end your life.”
  3. “We wouldn’t be having this conversation if you had the Dreamscourge.”
  4. “I’m sorry. I can’t give you the heart.”
  5. “I respect your choice. But I can’t be a part of it.”
  6. “Listen. I…I know what happened to Umpara.”
  7. “And? Why didn’t you tell the truth?”
  8. “That’s why you really trapped the ruins. So no one would find out.”
  9. “No. The truth would do more harm than good.”

Talking to Chiko:

  1. “Don’t worry. It’s right here with me.”
  2. “He wanted to take his own life with it. Chiko stepped in to prevent that.”
  3. “Let me hold onto it. I’ll take it far away and keep it safe.”
  4. “\[Lie\] No, that was all.”
  5. “Uh…about that. He’s not just sick. It’s the Dreamscourge.”
  6. “He wanted to die before he turned. He was trying to keep you safe.”
  7. “There *is* one way. We just stopped him from doing it.”

Following this ensures you get all rewards while maintaining the settlement's hope. Revealing Keipo's secret will result in losing the Leviathan Heart and upsetting Thirdborn.
