Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds two classic F-Zero GBA racers!
Get ready to experience the thrill of high-speed futuristic racing with the addition of F-Zero: GP Legend and the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, launching October 11, 2024!
This exciting announcement brings two beloved entries in Nintendo's iconic racing franchise to a new generation of players. Both games offer intense competition, challenging tracks, and the signature F-Zero machine combat.
The F-Zero series, known for pushing the boundaries of console technology since its debut in 1990, has inspired countless racing games. Its influence can be seen in titles like SEGA's Daytona USA. Featuring the fan-favorite Captain Falcon (also a Super Smash Bros. veteran!), F-Zero combines breakneck speed with strategic racing and thrilling head-to-head battles.
F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in 2003 in Japan and 2004 worldwide, offers a robust racing experience. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, finally makes its international debut, marking the first time many players will experience this previously region-locked title. The game's release also ends a nearly two-decade hiatus for the F-Zero series, following the release of the Switch's F-Zero 99 last year. According to F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura, the dominance of Mario Kart played a significant role in the series' long absence.
The October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack will allow subscribers to enjoy both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, featuring Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials. Prepare for intense competition and adrenaline-pumping action!
