Supergiant Games has unleashed "The Olympic Update," the first major update for Hades 2, bringing a mountain of new content. Melinoe and her foes are getting significant upgrades, and a brand-new region awaits exploration.
Hades 2's Olympic Update: A Mountain of New Content
"Our first Major Update is finally here!" announced Supergiant Games. The Olympic Update delivers a substantial expansion, including a new region, weapon, characters, animal familiars, and more. The developers also plan to closely monitor player feedback to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Here's a glimpse of what awaits:
- New Region: Mount Olympus: Ascend to the home of the gods and face the challenge of saving it.
- New Weapon: Xinth, the Black Coat: Master the power of this otherworldly Nocturnal Arm.
- New Characters: Discover two new allies and win their favor.
- New Familiars: Bond with two adorable new animal companions.
- Crossroads Renewal: Unlock numerous cosmetic items to personalize the Crossroads.
- Expanded Story: Uncover hours of new dialogue and unravel the deepening plot.
- World Map: Experience a new presentation when traveling between regions.
- Mac Support: Native support for Macs with Apple M1 chips or later.
Currently in early access, Hades 2 has already garnered praise for its replayability and rich content. This update further expands the experience with new dialogue and story developments, culminating in the addition of Olympus—the mythical home of the Greek gods and Zeus's throne.

This update also includes significant reworks to several Nocturnal Arms and Abilities, including the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, and Moonstone Axe Specials. These changes aim to enhance Melinoe's adaptability to different playstyles. Her Dash has also been improved for speed and responsiveness.
But the challenges grow alongside Melinoe's power. The update introduces a host of new enemies in Mount Olympus, including new Wardens and a Guardian. Existing enemies in the Surface region have also received adjustments:
- Chronos: Reduced downtime between phases; other minor adjustments.
- Eris: Various adjustments; no longer prone to standing in flames.
- Infernal Beast: Resurfaces sooner after the first phase; various minor adjustments.
- Polyphemus: No longer summons Elite foes; other minor adjustments.
- Charybdis: Reduced number of phases; more intense flailing with reduced downtime.
- Headmistress Hecate: Loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are defeated.
- Ranged Enemies: Fewer will fire simultaneously.
- Various other minor enemy and combat adjustments.
The full release of Hades 2, along with console launches, is expected sometime next year.
