Two GTA Titles Are Leaving Netflix Games Next Month

Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.

Why are these games leaving?

The licenses for GTA III and Vice City are expiring. Netflix's agreement with Rockstar Games was a 12-month deal, and it's not being renewed. This isn't unusual, as Netflix licenses games similarly to how it licenses movies and TV shows. A "Leaving Soon" label will appear on the games before their removal.

What happens after December 13th?

After the removal date, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to these games. However, they can be purchased individually or as a trilogy on the Google Play Store.

Future possibilities?

While GTA III and Vice City are leaving, there's speculation that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform in the future.

This news follows the surprise removal of other titles last year, but at least this time, Netflix is providing advance notice. It's interesting to note that the GTA trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
