In response to player feedback, Final Fantasy 14 has announced significant changes to the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid in Patch 7.16. Set to launch on January 21, this update will introduce a new feature allowing players to exchange excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. This adjustment is particularly exciting for players, as it will make it easier to acquire sought-after items such as the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2, respectively.
The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, which debuted on December 24 following the release of Patch 7.15, challenges up to 24 players to battle against the iconic final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness. The raid incorporates mechanics from the Shadowbringers' Eden raid series, adding a fresh twist to the encounter. Successful raiders are rewarded with Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional bonuses for first-time clears.
With the introduction of the Clouddark Demimateria exchange in Patch 7.16, players can look forward to increased flexibility in acquiring high-demand items. Although the exact exchange rate remains undisclosed, this change is expected to impact the market board dynamics for both the hairstyle and the mount. Square Enix has emphasized that these modifications stem directly from player feedback, hinting at potential future adjustments based on continued community input.
As the first content update of 2025, Patch 7.16 will also feature the finale of the Dawntrail Role Quest series. However, major job balance updates are not expected until Patch 7.2. With more raid content planned throughout the year, the evolving player feedback will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping Final Fantasy 14's future updates.
