Star Wars Celebration has unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming update to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, which is set to integrate themes from The Mandalorian and Grogu. This update, slated for release on May 22, 2026, promises to take guests on a captivating choose-your-own-adventure journey alongside iconic planets like Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and the newly added Coruscant. A standout feature of this update is the expanded role for Engineers, who will now have the unique opportunity to care for Grogu, adding a delightful new layer to the experience.
This update will diverge from the storyline of the new The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, yet it will still highlight both Din Djarin and Grogu in innovative ways. The narrative kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka discovering a clandestine deal on Tatooine involving ex-Imperial officers and pirates. This sets the stage for a thrilling chase across the galaxy, where guests will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, the Engineers' role in caring for Grogu is poised to be a highlight of the experience. In an exclusive interview, Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama shared insights into what fans can anticipate. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama stated. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. So, we love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."
The choose-your-own-adventure aspect of the update will also be a key feature. Kalama explained, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning-quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. And that's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."
