Numerous Old Coins (hundreds in total) are scattered throughout the game. Here's how to acquire and utilize them.
Old Coins are unusable in Chapter 1; focus on the main storyline. After commencing Chapter 2, complete these main story battles:
Completing these battles leads you back to Ji, where you'll meet Sima Hui. Following the conversation and obtaining incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat unlocks near Ji. Here, you can exchange Old Coins with Sima Hui. Besides reviewing bonds and past interactions, you'll redeem coins for rewards.
Rewards are tied to specific Old Coin milestones; redeem them whenever possible.
