In Dune: Awakening, sandworms are a powerful, unpredictable force of nature, not a tool under your direct control. Unlike in Frank Herbert's novels, where characters could summon sandworms using a thumper, this mechanic is absent from the game.

Sandworms are independent NPCs, each with programmed patrol routes and behaviors. You can't summon one to attack an enemy base. However, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract a nearby worm's attention, though this isn't guaranteed.
Riding sandworms, a hallmark of Fremen culture in the books and films, is also unavailable in Dune: Awakening. The developers attribute this omission to constraints from the Dune film franchise.
Future updates may introduce more Fremen-centric content, potentially including sandworm riding. For now, however, this iconic activity remains uncertain.
Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
