Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Best of all, it's free for Crunchyroll members!
The Kardboard Kings Experience:
Step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his card-collecting father's seaside shop and the legacy of the legendary card game, Warlock. His unlikely business partner? Giuseppe, a shrewd cockatoo with a talent for spotting lucrative deals.
Managing the shop involves pleasing customers (or, if you're feeling daring, subtly overcharging them!). The game is brimming with charming characters, witty dialogue, and nods to other card games and anime. Over 100 uniquely illustrated cards, including shiny variants, add to the visual appeal.
Gameplay Mechanics:
The core gameplay revolves around the classic "buy low, sell high" principle. However, as you progress, card conditions and set rarities fluctuate, impacting value. Factors like foil finishes and card popularity all play a crucial role.
Kardboard Kings also incorporates a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where you face challenging duelists, organize tournaments, host booster pack parties, and manage clearance sales to keep your inventory fresh.
Download Kardboard Kings now from the Google Play Store if you're a Crunchyroll subscriber. Don't miss our other article on the linguistic puzzles in LOK Digital!
