Get ready to snuggle into a world of cozy fabrics, adorable cats, and strategic quilting! Quilts and Cats of Calico, a charming board game-inspired puzzler from Monster Couch and Flatout Games, is purrfectly poised for its mobile debut.
Launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on February 11th, the mobile version for Android and iOS will follow closely on March 11th. The game initially charmed PC players in March 2024, with a Nintendo Switch release following in December.
What's Quilts and Cats of Calico All About?
Inspired by the whimsical charm of Studio Ghibli animations, Quilts and Cats of Calico boasts soothing visuals that are instantly inviting. Gameplay centers around crafting the most delightful quilts by strategically matching patterns and colors. As you stitch your way to the top of the quilting hierarchy, you'll face a rival with some rather ambitious (and possibly feline-fueled) plans.
Beyond the aesthetic appeal, skillful design choices are key to scoring big points. Your creations will be judged by the most discerning critics imaginable: the cats themselves! Each fluffy feline has unique preferences, so be prepared for some purr-fectly picky judges. A quilt they love might just become their new favorite napping spot!
And the cats aren't just static decorations; they're fully interactive! Pet them, watch them play, or gently nudge them away when they decide your quilt is their new bed. With a variety of in-game cats and extensive customization options, you can even create your own unique feline companion, choosing everything from fur color to adorable outfits. Is it the Same as the Board Game?
While inspired by the board game Calico, Quilts and Cats of Calico isn't a direct digital adaptation. It introduces exciting new twists, including a campaign mode with rule variations, fresh mechanics, and a captivating new setting. The game also features cross-platform multiplayer with ranked matches, weekly challenges, and leaderboards, alongside a solo mode offering AI opponents at various difficulty levels.
