Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's successful 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom offers flexible RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations add a layer of tactical depth to combat.
Players use in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization options allow players to equip units with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats like range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource gathering and crafting are central to gameplay. Players collect resources such as wood, leather, and coal to craft items at various workshops within their village, including the blacksmith and magician.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which holds a 4.6 App Store rating. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test via TestFlight. For the latest updates and information on this upcoming RTS-lite, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit, or explore his other games on the App Store.
