The stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has officially kicked off. While some Sony console players got an early peek at the patch, the developers suggest reinstalling the game if you're not up for testing it out just yet.
Patch 8 brings some exciting new features to the table. One of the highlights is crossplay, enabling players on different platforms—consoles and PC—to team up seamlessly. As long as you have a linked Larian account, you can invite friends from any platform to join the fun. Even more intriguing, modded gameplay will be supported across platforms with a few stipulations. All mods used by a PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby should not go over a double-digit number of installed mods.
In terms of multiplayer enhancements, a highly anticipated feature is now in the testing phase: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This feature was previously unavailable on this less powerful console, so it's fantastic news for all Xbox Series S owners.
Patch 8 also introduces a robust photo mode with a plethora of customization options, and 12 new subclasses to add more depth and variety to your gameplay experience. Larian has tackled various bugs and made balance adjustments, though some issues still linger.
