Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Date Shifts to March 20, 2025
Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This decision, according to Ubisoft, allows the development team additional time to refine the game based on player feedback.
The game's initial release date was November 15, 2024, but was first postponed to February 14, 2025, due to development challenges focused on ensuring historical and cultural accuracy. This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback, as stated by Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Coté emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, he noted, provide crucial time for polishing and refinement.
Revised Release Date:
The September delay saw Ubisoft offer pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest postponement, the shorter delay may mitigate potential player frustration.
This additional delay could also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity. The company experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting this internal review and a renewed focus on player satisfaction. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this initiative.
